Shamrock Shuffle 8k

Tomorrow morning Phillip and I will be flying to Chicago for one of the more (locally) revered races in the world, the Shamrock Shuffle 8k (4.97 miles). He and I will both be participating, along with 29,998 others.

Over 2 months ago I posted a blog about this upcoming weekend, explaining all the details and importance of it. Because the Shamrock Shuffle 8k is larger than the Boston Marathon, which is only 25,000 runners, there are 2 waves and 4 Corrals to separate the runners into, mostly so that we don’t all trample one another. Especially all those FAST people who are going to be running WAY faster than the rest of us. ;)

We arrive in Chicago tomorrow at 10:20 am, so I don’t really know what we’ll do over the course of the day, but we’re meeting up with a friend of ours who is so graciously allowing us to stay in his apartment for the night. He will be running in the Shamrock Shuffle as well, and I expect it will be quite the competition between us (even though I’m in the Top 100 and he’s in Corral A). Phillip and I met up with him and his girlfriend at a race once before, back in October 2007, when we ran the Comer Kid’s Classic 5k. Even though I won Overall Female that day, he beat me, but we’ll see about this time. I’m thinking we’re about even in our current level of fitness.

I’ll post the link here, and you can all go see the race for yourself.

I love Chicago!
